Mr. Robinson joined Nelson Hesse, LLP as a Partner in 2005.  He is a Florida native, born in 1964 in Lake Wales. He graduated from Stetson University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts in 1986 and received his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1989 from Mercer University at the Walter F. George School of Law. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1989 and the Georgia Bar in 1990.  He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the 11^th Circuit.  Mr. Robinson is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in City, County and Local Government Law.

Mr. Robinson’s primary areas of practice include local government law, land use law, labor and employment law, and appellate practice.  Mr. Robinson’s practice is focused in the Sarasota area but he has represented clients from Jacksonville to the Florida Keys.

Since 2001, Mr. Robinson has acted as the City Attorney for North Port, Florida.  He, along with other members of the firm, provides general legal services and litigation representation for the City.  Mr. Robinson has extensive experience in land use issues, including developments of regional impact, independent and dependent special district law, comprehensive plan amendments and use of the village district plan for development. 

Mr. Robinson provides labor and employment law representation to both the City of North Port and the Sarasota County School Board.  He has been involved in numerous arbitrations and administrative hearings on behalf of these and other clients in the field of public labor and employment law.  His labor and employment law practice includes collective bargaining, grievances, termination, work place discrimination, harassment and retaliation, and general human resource operations.  In the field of appellate practice, Mr. Robinson has represented clients before all five Florida District Courts of Appeal, and has filed and argued over fifty appellate matters with numerous published decisions.

Mr. Robinson served as President of the Sarasota County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section from 1993 to 1994,and was elected to serve on the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors from 1996 to 2000.  He is a member of the Local Government Section of the Florida Bar and the Florida Municipal Attorneys Association.  He is also an active member of Sarasota Baptist Church.
